BTN at a glance for 2019/2020
2019/2020 is BTN’s 5th year in business and I must say I am so excited. Looking ahead at what this year will bring, also knowing that there are so many unknowns makes it a story that I am stoked to be apart of.
I was hoping that this year I would finally have found a rhythm with what it means to be a business owner, teacher, admin, marketing person, book keeper and so much more, but something happened that really threw a joyful wrench into that plan!
This year…out of all the years it could have happened, I was booked as a solo performer for 85 shows across B.C.
These shows will span across the year, starting October 15th and run till the middle of May. Yes that’s right, I am deciding on my 5th year of business owning, that I am going to take off for a little bit of touring.
This was a decision that was not easily made, but rest assured, once made, was taken very seriously.
I had to sort out how I was going to not only keep my academy alive, but ensure that it thrives all the while not being around to run it everyday. So, this past summer I put myself to work setting up a few great systems that would help make things easier.
First, I decided I would re-do my three main books; Intro to Drums Level 1, 2 and 3. Then, I decided I would record video lessons for each of these and have them up on the website for my students to access. This was big, because it would ensure that my students could keep up with their lessons while I was away, and would allow for online accountability as I’ll have an open line of communication with parents and students throughout my away time.
We will also be doing our recitals this year, which are currently in the works, and on top of it all, BTN will be looking to do another road trip out to Van for a Drum Clinic.
It’s going to be a wild year and I know that without the incredible parents who have committed time and money into my academy, I would not be where I am today, so if you’re a parent of one of BTN’s fine students, Thank you from the bottom of my heart for allowing me to do this work.
Fall..here we come!
