2019 End of Year Recital!

On Tuesday, June 11th from 6-8pm, BTN hosted it’s 3rd Annual End of Year Drum Recital. It all went down at KCS High School in Kelowna and word on the street is this thing was the bees knees!!

Well…I should know, In was there.

Friends, I have to say, I’ve never been more proud of my students then as I was on this fine evening. For months, This batch of drummers who had decided to perform worked their butts off in order to prepare for what would be a killer night. There were laughs and successes but there were definitely tears and uncertainties as well along the way. It was so wild to watch some of the students work through some fears, anxieties, self-doubt and come out the other end on performance night more confident, excited and ready to do it all again.

It was also incredibly inspiring to see all the seats full of parents, grandparents, brothers, sisters and friends encouraging and motivating the students during the performance.

Needless to say, the students made this night a total win.

I wish to thank all the folks who brought food out the event. Also a big thank you to the photographer for the night who also happens to be a student at BTN, Steve Wickenheiser. A MASSIVE thanks to Connor Murdock and KCS for allowing us to have the recital at such a killer space, everyone was so blown away by the set up. I also want to thank Dylan Ranney, a very good friend of mine and fellow drummer who spontaneously and without question jumped on the job of working all the slides for the night. Lastly, I want to thank one of my students, Sam Cooper who was our lighting guy for the night. He also performed so his plate was full - thanks so much Sam!!

I hope you enjoy the photos below. I’m already brainstorming how we’ll make the next recital even that much better.

Much love -

Zac.
